Aria Restaurant @ Sydney – An Awesome Night

Finally the highlight of our Sydney trip This would go down as one of the most expensive restaurant I have ever been to in Australia. It is owned by celebrity chef, Matt Moran who is also the judge on MasterChef Australia. I was hoping I could catch a glimpse of him but I guess it wasn’t my night.

The view (our table was over looking the Sydney Opera House) was immaculate. The service was fantastic.

Watercress Soup in a Shot Glass

While we were deciding our orders, we were served a complimentary shot of soup. It’s watercress soup with a dollop of cream sprinkled with bacon bits.

Peking Duck Consommé

Erin ordered Peking duck consommé with duck dumplings, shaved abalone and mushrooms. It tasted really good. We had a good laugh when we tried to compare it with duck wanton in ‘bakuteh’ soup.

Pork Belly

I ordered Kurobuta sweet pork belly with paradise pears and pear chutney. I would have to say that this was the most expensive piece of roast pork (siu yuk) I have ever eaten but it is worth it. It has 4 distinct layers when I bit into it. The skin was crispy, the fats were melting in my mouth, the meat was tender and the bottom was sticky and sweet.  It was a truly an amazing feeling when I bit into them.

Lamb Fillet

Erin ordered basil scented lamb fillet with red capsicum, baby artichokes and a green olive and lavender sauce. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the lavender sauce goes really well with it.

T-Bone Steak

I ordered t-bone steak and I guess this was the only let down for the whole night. I would have expected the meat to be tender and juicy but instead it was dry. Well, the fries (surprise, surprise) saved the dish. It was crispy on the outside and well mashed on the inside.

Coffee & Tea

We ended our dinner with coffee and tea. It came with little desserts/sweets which were really nice and tasty.

Highlight of the night – Spending an amazing night in an amazing restaurant with amazing views together with my AMAZING wife.
